Hepatitis A vaccine can effectively prevent hepatitis A virus infection. One month after receiving the first dose of the hepatitis A vaccine, about 95% of people would produce protective antibody levels against infection.
Suitable for:
People aged one year or above.
Travelers to endemic areas of hepatitis A.
People with clotting factors disorders receive plasma-derived replacement clotting factors.
People with chronic liver diseases.
Not suitable for:
Children one year old or younger.
People who have allergic reactions to components of the hepatitis A vaccine.
Anyone who has an acute or severe illness should receive the vaccine after recovery.
Women who are planning to become pregnant, are pregnant or breastfeeding.
Precautions:
The complete course of hepatitis A vaccination requires two injections.
The first dose should be given at the age of one year, and the second dose can be given six to 18 months after the first dose of the vaccine.
Hepatitis A vaccine is very safe. The most common side effects of receiving the hepatitis A vaccine are soreness, redness, swelling, and warmth at the injection site.
