The hepatitis B vaccine can effectively prevent infection with the hepatitis B virus and its complications, such as cirrhosis and liver cancer. After completion of the vaccination series, over 95% of healthy individuals can produce protective antibodies that provide long-term protection against hepatitis B virus infection.
